galentines day: a styled session

I wanted to show a little snippet of the fun that came from this styled session!

cristina & kevin

Gah! Before I dive too far into the story of this session, let me give you background. Do you remember Maria and Fernando's e-session from last fall? Yea me too. Ok so this is Cristina and Kevin. Cristina and Maria are sisters and I get to photograph BOTH of their weddings this year! WHOO! I love when I get to work with families more than once. It's happened quite a few times now in my career and I absolutely love it! Now...onto these two :)
Cristina and Kevin are getting married this December, so it only made sense that they wanted a winter wonderland engagement session. But they had an adorable idea; they love to ice skate together at a local pond in Kevin's neighborhood so we laced up their skates and headed out! Only catch was; it was basically a blizzard this day and the pond was being shoveled off as we were shooting. We didn't get to do a ton of skating, but they still had plenty of time to cozy up and get some super cute engagement shots! I can't wait for this wedding!

brianna & drew

I have found one of my all time FAVORITE locations in the city to shoot at folks and it's all thanks to these two! Brianna & Drew are my neighbors (basically they live down the road from me) and we hadn't known that until Brianna reached out for photo info! After chatting all things weddings and details, we realized we are like, 3 miles away from each other. Small world! These two were wanting a white, bright, clean and architectural engagement session and had dropped the idea of shooting at the steps of the Field Museum. I. AM. IN. LOVE. The marble, the stone, the clean lines. Let's all go do a shoot here mmmkay? They seriously rocked this session and now I'm not so patiently waiting for their October wedding!

stephanie & steve

Stephanie is the sister of one of my grooms from 2017! I've known this family for a few years now through my husband, Tim, so as soon as Steve popped the question at a winery in Napa (I know...I die...) Stephanie got in touch with me! I always love it when I have a bride or groom who is totally obsessed with pictures and in this case, Stephanie is my girl! She had so many fun ideas to really play up the snow and winter vibes; we had so much fun! Their October wedding will be here before we know it and I'm extra excited because (going along with that whole winery theme) we are taking their formals at Lynfred Winery! October can't come soon enough!

kaellen & mario

I'm so excited for these two! When I first started chatting with Kaellen we quickly realized we had a lot in common. We are both from the same town, hang out in the same neighborhood growing up and knew mutual people! We hit it off right away and as we were talking more, I learned about the story of her and Mario. These two have been together for YEARS (and engaged awhile too!) and are finally tying the knot this November! They were a blast to hang with at their snowy engagement session and bared the cold with me which may or may not be the best practice for a November wedding. I can't wait for these two :)

mr. & mrs. serino

Happy 2018 friends! I can't believe 2017 is over and it's on to a whole new clan of gorgeous couples! My year kicked off earlier than normal with Sara & Andrew! I have to first start by saying that Sara impressed me from the get-go with her INSANELY amazing organization skills. She had every detail written out and made my job that much easier! So thanks Sara ;)
We started the day where we ended it, The Drake Chicago. The bride spent her morning in the Princess Diana Suite (holy beautiful btw) where she was surrounded by her friends! This couple did things their way; the only formal bridal party was their Maid of Honor and Best Man, but they were surrounded by friends all day who served as their honorary wedding party.
While Sara got ready in her suite, Andrew was on another floor with his guys and Tim was able to photograph all the moments! These two gave each friend a gift and it was so much fun to watch them all react!

We headed to the church where all of the beautiful Christmas decorations were still up making a STUNNING backdrop to their vows. After they made it official, we all took a trolley around town hitting up some perfect photo spots that Chicago has to offer. While it was cold (15 degrees) it was a heat wave from the negative temps we've been having the past few weeks so we were able to stick it out!

The party started back at the Drake which was dripping in gorgeous chandeliers and decor. Every moment of this day was perfection and it showed. I'm so excited to share this sneak peek with these two. Enjoy St. Lucia!
