You want to go to an amazingly fun wedding? Go to an Assyrian one! Seriously!!!! James and Samantha's day was FILLED with love, celebration and joy and my jaw still might hurt from smiling all day. This was a fusion wedding with Assyrian traditions meeting American traditions, but they did this so beautifully and it might just be one of my favorites now!
We started with the bride at her home getting ready before the entire family came to greet her and celebrate her. This tradition represents the welcoming of the bride into the groom's family and they actually have a tradition where a man from the bride's family haggles with the best man to win the bride into the family. She can't leave her house until a deal has been struck! Once she is outside, the entire family escorts her to her chariot bus where she is taken to the ceremony. Once there, they escort her up the church stairs to marry her man!
The entire ceremony felt like a royal wedding to me. I mean, there were GOLD. CROWNS. Every second was stunning. From ceremony, we headed downtown Chicago and had to fight off tourists to snag that INSANELY large chunk of Wrigley Building you see down below. Because, this wedding party was 22 people guys! We took up the whole area! Luckily, tourists were cool and let us borrow the space ;)
Reception was held at the Crystal Palace in Mt. Prospect and was dressed to the nines for these two! It was such a grand party; their entrances, the speeches, the DANCING! It was so much fun and I'm not sure I'm even back to my regularly scheduled sleeping habits after napping the entire next day because the wedding was that much adrenaline!
I'm so honored I was able to photograph this day for you guys! I hope it was everything you've dreamed of and that the photos bring back all the memories! Enjoy :)
